Passengers aboard the Ujevwu–Itakpe train route witnessed the importance of emergency medical preparedness on 5th May 2026, as the prompt response of the onboard medical team helped prevent what could have become a tragic situation.
According to reports from the journey, an elderly passenger suffered a serious medical emergency while on board the train. Thanks to the immediate intervention of the train’s medical team from Ultimate Health HMO, led by Nurse Faith, alongside volunteer medical professionals who were also passengers on the train, the situation was quickly brought under control and the passenger was stabilized.
Shortly after, another passenger, a young man suspected to have experienced an epileptic episode, reportedly collapsed in Coach 4 and required urgent medical attention. The onboard medical personnel responded swiftly once again, ensuring the passenger received the care and monitoring needed.
In another case during the same trip, a passenger suffering from malaria symptoms was attended to and given immediate medical support, including anti-malaria medication.
Thankfully, there were no casualties.
This incident highlights the critical role of accessible healthcare and emergency medical response systems, especially in public transportation and other high-traffic environments.
